The Basic Principles of Somatic Experiencing® is a live workshop for professionals interested in learning the basic principles and theory of the SE model and to learn more about the 8-module SE Professional Training Program.

IMPORTANT: Practitioners desiring to pursue the full Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certificate Training MUST attain the Basic Principles of SE Certificate of Completion in order to enroll in the Beginning I Training.

Learning Objectives are:

1. Participants will be able to distinguish the difference between exteroception and interoception.

 2. Participants will be able to explain three effects of untreated/unresolved trauma.

 3. Participants will be able to explain the difference between a somatic approach and a traditional cognitive approach to healing.

 4. Participants will be able identify three steps in assisting clients in grounding exercises.

 5. Participants will be able to identify and explain the two branches of the automimic nervous system.

6. Participants will be able to explain the differences between the activation and deactivation cycles.

7. Participants will be able to identify two indicators of each of the common trauma responses, fight, flight, and freeze.

8. Participants will be able to provide three examples of basic somatic experiencing interventions.

This workshop will be taught by Francine Kelley. Francine is a Jamaican-born Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Yoga Instructor and Body-Centered Psychotherapist living in Chicago. She brings with her over a decade's worth of professional experience exploring the ways that the body and mind can work together to help people find healing, plus a robust toolkit of skills and respected trauma methodologies including Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Yoga.

Upon completion of this workshop, all attendees will receive a one-time $50 credit towards their SE Professional Training Beginning I module and a Certificate of Attendance. Discount applies only to the SE Caribbean Beginning I training.
